» our anti-ageing advice

As the body ages, so does the skin.

The way we age is a combination of genetics and environmental factors.  We can do little to change our genes, but our lifestyle plays a significant part in how we age.

Sun exposure, smoking and hormonal changes cause fine lines and wrinkles to appear.

As we age, our skin becomes less elastic due to the reduction of collagen and elastin.  The hyaluronic acid (HA) content of our skin – which is important for water retention- decreases.  The oil-producing sebaceous glands become less active so skin becomes drier.  Fat is lost so skin looks less plump and smooth and gravity causes skin to sag.  Uneven pigmentation and age spots can appear.

To reduce these ageing effects always,
  • Avoid sunbathing and always wear a minimum of SPF 30 on your exposed skin.
  • Do not smoke.
  • Eat a balanced diet high in antioxidant vitamins A,C and E
  • Exercise regularly to improve circulation in the skin
  • Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water and avoid too much alcohol.
  • Develop a good skincare routine and always thoroughly remove make-up before going to bed.
