Cosmetic Dentistry » White Fillings
White fillings are used to repair teeth which have small to moderate sized cavities.  They are a natural looking alternative to metal fillings and are preferred by many patients as they are completely mercury-free.

Cavities occur when acid-producing bacteria
damage the surface of the enamel, allowing more bacteria to enter the tooth.  Over time the cavity will increase in size, if left untreated.

Before the filling can be placed, the decay is removed from the tooth, usually under local anaesthetic, and the new white filling is built up in layers, then shaped and polished to produce a natural looking result.

The results achievable are shown in the before and after photos below.

» inlays and onlays

These are restorations that are best described as laboratory constructed fillings. They are made of either gold or ceramic or composite. They are cemented into the tooth and form a very strong bond with the tooth surface.

They are used in larger cavities or when a tooth is heavily broken down. The modern composite materials have many advantages over ceramic and gold and are regularly used by the dentists at LDP.

» signum inlays

At LDP we regularly use Signum ceramis composite inlays which are created in the laboratory using glass-ceramic composite, which has been specifically developed for the requirement of metal free restorations.

This composite has a particularly high intrinsic durability, making the restoration more durable, even when high levels of stress are encountered.

Our signum ceramis composite, inlays, crowns and veneers, provide long-lasting natural cosmetic solutions – a beautiful alternative to amalgam or gold fillings.
