At LDP, our hygienist Cheryl Matthews, works with our dentists offering a range of preventive treatments to ensure your mouth is healthy and your teeth look and feel great.
All appointments with Cheryl are for 30 minutes, although you may
be advised that you need more than one visit for the best results.
As dental hygienists currently work under the prescription of a dentist, you will need to see your dentist at least once a year to review your oral health.

Cheryl is specially trained to carry out thorough cleaning of your teeth including the removal of plaque, tartar and staining. This is usually called scaling and polishing.

However, perhaps her most important role is showing our patients the best way to keep their teeth free of plaque, using the right techniques for brushing and flossing.

If necessary, you will receive dietary advice and other
preventive advice about smoking and alcohol
» home maintenance programmes
It is very important that you keep up a good routine to keep your teeth and gums healthy at home. We recommend that you:
brush your teeth for two minutes, twice a day with fluoride
toothpaste
floss your teeth daily or use an interdental ‘te-pe’ brush to
clean between your teeth
Use a mouthwash recommended by your dentist, such as
Corsodyl Daily Defence or Retar-dex
